The  MT4 transmitter and MR4A, MR4B receiver modules have four data channels and are assembled with surface mount parts. These modules are ready to use; just connect a battery or other power source and an antenna wire. All connections are made by screw terminal blocks. No soldering is required.

Four control bits can be sent individually or simultaneously by pulling MT4 transmitter inputs down to circuit board ground with a push button switch or other conducting device. Transmitter inputs will not accept an external voltage source. A fifth transmitter input can remotely latch receiver outputs individually. Both the MR4A and MR4B receiver outputs can be momentary or latched. If the outputs are latched, they be can be individually reset from the transmitter and can be simultaneously reset (unlatched) at the receiver.

MR4A receiver outputs are at 0 volts when no signal is being received and go to +5 volts when a signal is received. Each MR4A output can sink and source up to 25 milliamperes. The outputs can directly drive light emitting diodes and piezo buzzers.

MR4B receiver outputs are single pole, double throw (SPDT) relays rated to switch 5 amperes at up to 30 volts DC.

The MT4 transmitter is powered by a 6 to 14 volt battery and draws less than 3 microamperes of standby current and an average of only 2 milliamperes during transmit for long battery life. The MR4A receiver can be powered by 7 to 24 volts DC and the MR4B by 12 to 24 volts DC. The power source can be a battery but an AC adapter (wall transformer) is usually used to power a receiver.

The modules uses RF transmitter and receiver circuits that operate at 418 MHz with a range of better than 1000 feet.The antenna can be any piece of rigid of flexible wire either insulated or non-insulated that is 6.7 inch long. The 6.7 inch length is 1/4 wavelength at 418 MHz. The antenna wire can be placed straight for maximum efficiency and positioned either vertical or horizontal or it can be loosely coiled to occupy minimum space when mounting in an enclosure.
